Cornfield At Sunset

Treatment Philosophy

At Zea Psychiatry, we take a deeply integrative approach to mental health. We pride ourselves on being experts in bridging evidence-based practices with personalized care.

Furthermore, we welcome complementary and alternative medicine, and incorporate these approaches into your treatment plan. And we communicate effectively with the rest of your treatment team (medical doctors, clinicians, therapists, complementary medicine practitioners, etc.).

In doing so, we hope to deliver the best holistic care possible that honors your whole person -- body, mind, and spirit.

Appointment Types

01

New Patient Introductory Call

All new patients can begin by scheduling a free 10 minute New Patient Introductory Call with clinicans they are interested in working with. If there is mutual fit, an intake appointment can be scheduled either in-person in our Greenwich Village (Manhattan, NYC) office or via telehealth for New York State residents.

02

Child & Adolescent Intakes

Following a New Patient Introductory Call, the parent/legal guardian(s) of patients under the age of 18 can schedule:

  • Child Intake 1 (parents only) - 45 minutes

  • Child Intake 2 (child + parents) - 45 minutes

The first intake session is for the parent/legal guardian(s) only, and we focus on their perspectives.

For the second intake session, both child and parent/legal guardian(s) should be present. The focus for the first 30-35 minutes is on the child perspective. In the final 10-15 minutes, we will discuss the treatment plan together.

If you are seeking out of network reimbursement, Child Intake 1 and Child Intake 2 should occur on separate days. However, there are some circumstances where we can combine both sessions into a 90 minute appointment on the same day.

03

Adult Intake

Following a New Patient Introductory Call, adult patients aged 18 and up can schedule:

  • Adult Intake (18+) - 60 minutes

During this 60 minute appointment, we will delve deeper into your perspectives about your mental health. This can include:

  • When you first started to have challenges with mood, anxiety, or attention

  • How these symptoms have evolved over time

  • Life circumstances and stressors that have contributed to your symptoms

  • Birth and developmental history

  • Learning and school history

  • Medical and surgical history

  • Psychiatric history of medication trials, therapeutic modalities, and neuropsychological testing

  • And much more...

04

Follow Up Visits

Upon completion of the intake evaluation(s), we discuss the frequency of follow up visits:

  • Psychotherapy follow up - 45 minutes, 60 minutes

  • Medication follow up - 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes

Psychotherapy visits are 45 or 60 minutes, and occur weekly or every other week.

Medication management visits are usually 30 or 45 minutes, and occur once per month on average. Follow up visits can be spaced out further (at most every 3 months). Longer or more frequent follow up visits can be arranged when clinically appropriate.
